Immigration Law

A poorly prepared immigration application can cost months. Each type of visa and permit has its own requirements, deadlines that do not wait, and documents that must be issued, translated and apostilled in the right order.

We know both sides of the journey: registered in Brazil and in Portugal, Dr. Ricardo Garcia assists people leaving and arriving, as well as companies hiring foreign workers.

Frequently asked questions

Questions that deserve
straight answers

How long does a residence permit application take?

It depends on the type of permit and on AIMA’s capacity at the time. In our first review we give you realistic timeframes for your case and what can be done to avoid delays.

Can I apply for Portuguese citizenship?

It depends on the grounds (descent, marriage, civil partnership, residence) and on the law in force when you apply, which has been amended. We check the requirements with your documents before going ahead.

My application was refused. Is there still a solution?

Often, yes. The decision must be reasoned and can be challenged, but deadlines are short. Contact us as soon as you receive the notification.
